“Denial & Depression” (2023) is an oil painting in the collection of artworks titled “Rituals for the Living” in which I use color and my signature faceless figures to create the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. This piece was made to represent the denial and bargaining stages particularly, the thoughts along the lines of thinking the person who has died will come back or thinking of giving anything and everything for just another moment with them but all the gold in the world won’t buy a bridge to visit someone in the afterlife.
