“Population 281” is a wall sculpture mounted on wooden canvas comprised of five panels. Each panel contains hand molded faces cast in liquid plastic. The faces as well as the colors of each panel come together to represent the flag of Barbados, where my family is from. This piece pays homage to a home I wish I had a deeper lived connection to but instead have a vast emotional connection. The faces represent not only my ancestral connection to Barbados but my connection to all of the people that call it home and themselves Bajan.
Individual Panel: 12” x 12”
Fully Installed: 88” x 12”
